Multi-Sport Course Schedule

Calendar View

Course descriptions available here. Contact the Host Agency listed next your course of interest. Please note that we do update this schedule as often as possible. If a course is not available in your area, please check back periodically as one may be added, or refer to our homestudy option. The minimum age to take a multi-sport NCCP course is 16 years old. Credit will not be given to those below this minimum age requirement.

Do you know which course you need to take to become trained in your sport? Is the multi-sport courses listed below the course(s) you need to take? As sports are integrating into the new system, some sports have integrated the multi-sport modules with the sport-specific components. Check with your BC Provincial Sport Organizations first to check if your sport is integrated and confirm the training you require.

Competition - Development

The NCCP Theory 3 has now been officially phased out and is no longer available. Coaches are now required to complete Competition-Development modules as outlined below.

This NCCP context is designed for coaches who are coaching to refine basic sport skills, to develop more advanced skills and tactics and are generally preparing for performance at the provincial and national level. These sessions are interactive and bring together coaches from different sports, which provide an increased value to the learning environment. All participants completing this training will receive credit in the NCCP.

Coaches wishing to complete all of the training in the Competition Development context will need to complete six multi-sport modules and a number of sport specific modules.
The six modules are:

  • Coaching and Leading Effectively
  • Developing Athletic Abilities
  • Leading Drug-free Sport
  • Managing Conflict
  • Prevention and Recovery
  • Psychology of Performance

Prerequisites:

For the Developing Athletic Abilities module there is also an ‘on-line' component that coaches must complete before attending this course. This will generally take an additional 2 hours to complete prior to taking the module. Completion of this on-line component is mandatory before attending the course.

Coaches beginning training in the NCCP Competition Development context must first complete training and/or evaluation in the Planning a Practice, Design a Basic Sport Program, and Make Ethical Decisions modules in the NCCP. These three modules serve as a necessary foundation for the additional modules in this context.

  • allow Aboriginal communities greater accessibility to the NCCP;
  • increase the number of NCCP certified Aboriginal coaches;
  • make the wisdom of Aboriginal culture available to both Aboriginal and mainstream sport.

The Aboriginal Coaching Manual covers a variety of areas specific to coaching Aboriginal athletes including:
